The Letters of Kamal-ud-Dawla (Kəmalüddövlə məktubları), also known as "Three Letters of the Indian Prince Kamal-ud-Dawla to the Persian Prince Jalal-ud-Dawla and the latter's reply — treatise by the Azerbaijani writer Mirza Fatali Akhundov, written in 1865 and considered the author's most significant critical and publicistic work. The treatise presents the correspondence between the Indian prince Kamal-ud-Dawla and the Persian prince Jalal-ud-Dawla. Through the exchange of letters — written by the Indian prince Kamal-ud-Dawla upon his return to Iran from an extended journey across Europe and America, and the replies from Jalal-ud-Dawla, who was in Cairo — the author critiques the foundations of Islamism and religious doctrines, the despotic feudal state, and Iran’s ruling aristocratic elite, while depicting scenes of Eastern despotism, the deceit and venality of the mullahs, and the poverty, disenfranchisement, ignorance, and enslavement of the people.
